Food and Drink

WRAP is working with organisations in the food and drink industry to create economic and environmental value from reducing food waste and greenhouse gas emissions, and tackling issues around water scarcity across the supply chain.

The issues

According to WRAP's research and estimates compiled by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), approximately one-third of all food produced in the world is lost or wasted. What's more, UN projections are that global demand for fresh water will exceed supply by 40% in 2030.

The facts are startling:

$984bn in economic losses globally per year, due to food loss and waste *
>£19bn worth of food waste in the UK annually *
86% UK rivers do not meet good ecological status

By working collaboratively on these issues, we can make the food and drink sector more sustainable
